ADVERTISEMENTS
- Vorhees' New Jersey Legal Malpractice Blog looks at a new unpublished New Jersey case involving a family trust -- a case that seems to set a very low standard for finding conflicts and perhaps an "impossibly high" standard for attorney conduct.
- From Law Firm Risk Management Blog: "Is your law firm ITAR compliant?" ITAR, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, can apply to law firms with certain practice areas, and it highlights the need of law firms to add regulatory compliance to their governance. As we've discussed here, these sorts of regulatory laws will continue to climb.
- From Overlawyered: a federal magistrate judge has thoughts on how to scold lawyers like school children for their bad behavior at depositions.
- We continue to see studies (WSJ) and discussions (the ALM article by Vivia Chen we mentioned last week) about women and biglaw partnerships. There always seems to be focus on choice, family life, and fair compensation.
- Franco Tarulli, at The Ethical Lawyer, has thoughts about the Australian lawyer who apparently smoked marijuana rolled in a page of the Koran and the Bible, and then posted a video to Youtube. (I'm sometimes asked, "when I travel in Europe, may I smoke marijuana where's it's legalized in Europe?" To which my answer usually is, "I am not your lawyer.")
