By Bill Marler, Esq.
I usually sneak in and out of towns as I give food safety speeches. Apparently, however, River Falls had a slow news day when they reported on the Symposiun - Current Concepts In ?Foodborne Pathogens and ?Rapid and Automated Methods ?in Food Microbiology. They also noted (ABA, please take note):
Keynote speaker for a Tuesday evening banquet is Seattle attorney Bill Marler, a personal injury and products liability specialist known for litigating foodborne illness cases since 1993, when he represented victims of Jack in the Box E. coli O157:H7 outbreak.
The banquet, to be held at Kilkarney Hills Golf Club, is open to the public. Cost is $35 per couple.
Since then he has focused his practice on representing individuals, mostly children, in litigation resulting from E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, hepatitis A, and other food-contamination cases, and has represented victims of nearly every large foodborne illness outbreak across the country.
Over the years, Marler has won $500 million for his clients.
His law firm, Marler Clark is currently involved in litigation resulting from a multi-state Salmonella outbreak resulting from contaminated eggs.
Marler has promoted food safety at national and international levels and has addressed numerous food industry groups, fair associations, and public health groups about foodborne illness litigation and issues surrounding it.
Marler has testified before Congress as well as state legislatures. He is also a frequent writer on topics related to foodborne illness.
Two things, I hope this Country Club does not have the problems that some in the past have, and I hope my speech does not ruin anyone's dinner.
