: Legal Blog WatchKentucky Coroners Want You Out of Their Way

Via Fark.com, I learned of pending legislation so important that it's been "pre-filed" for the 2011 session of the Kentucky General Assembly. What's the urgent issue? Coroners statewide want to be able to use lights and sirens when responding to the scene of a death. Though the bill would allow lights and sirens, according to the Lexington Hearld-Leader, it would not allow coroners to exceed the posted speed limit. The state representative who introduced the bill, Republican Marie Rader, is well aware of the gripes of medical examiners who have to sit in traffic, because her brother is the coroner in Jackson County. Gotta get there before the dead bodies get tired of waiting and walk off, after all. Let's hope if the bill passes Kentucky's coroners don't let the power go to their heads like one Colorado coroner's investigator did last year.Full post as published by Legal Blog Watch on October 18, 2010 (boomark / email).
