: FinancialCounselSEC Obtains Order for Disgorgement and Civil Penalties against John W. Lawton and Crossroad Capital Management
By James Eccleston
The SEC recently obtained an order setting disgorgement, prejudgment interest and civil penalties against John W. Lawton, a former resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota now believed to be residing in San Francisco, California and Crossroad Capital Management, LLC, the investment adviser to hedge fund Paramount Partners, LP. Both Paramount and Crossroad?s principal place of business was Wayzata, Minnesota.
In 2009, the SEC alleged that Lawton and Crossroad fraudulently misrepresented Paramount?s assets and returns to investors. The SEC alleged that in January 2009, statements were sent to investors indicating assets totaling approximately $17 million as of December 31, 2008, when in fact Paramount allegedly only had approximately $5.3 million in assets at that time. Paramount is believed to have had approximately 50-60 investors who invested as much as $9 million. Many of the investors in Paramount are believed to be residents of Minnesota.
Eccleston Law represents individual and institutional investors to recover their investment losses caused by securities and investment fraud. Our attorneys also help victims of Ponzi schemes pursue recovery by submitting claims with receiverships established by the SEC or by assisting victims with the filing of a Theft Loss Tax Deduction with the IRS.
If you have lost money investing with John Lawton, Crossroad Capital Management or Paramount Partners, or have information about this alleged fraud, please contact Jim Eccleston at the Eccleston Law Offices at 312-332-0000.
