: FinancialCounselMitchell Porter & Williams, Inc. Charged with Running Ponzi Scheme Targeting Los Angeles County Bus Operators
By James Eccleston
The SEC recently charged Mitchell, Porter & Williams, Inc., a Los Angeles investment adviser, and Thomas Mitchell with operating a $14.7 million Ponzi scheme targeting retiring Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority bus drivers. The SEC has alleged that from 1995 until March 2010, at 82 investors nationwide invested $14.7 million in companies controlled by Mitchell through the sale of promissory notes paying up to 15% per year. The Complaint alleged that the funds were used to pay Mitchells living expenses, as well as to make payments to earlier investors.
Eccleston Law represents individual and institutional investors to recover their investment losses caused by securities and investment fraud. Our attorneys also help victims of Ponzi schemes pursue recovery by submitting claims with receiverships established by the SEC or by assisting victims with the filing of a Theft Loss Tax Deduction with the IRS.
If you have lost money investing with Thomas Mitchell or Mitchell, Porter & Williams, you may be entitled to a recovery. Please contact Jim Eccleston at the Eccleston Law Offices at 312-332-0000 for more details.
