Anti-Worker ?Right to Work? Bill on Indiana Fast Track

By Mike Hall

ADVERTISEMENTS

While the assault on workers in Wisconsin is drawing national attention, the state level coordinated attacks on middle-class jobs and workers’ rights roll on across the country. (Visit our new States of Denial website here for more information.)

In a move designed to give Indiana workers and their allies as little time as possible to mobilize against a so-called ?right to work? bill, Indiana Republican state House leaders slipped the bill into next week?s schedule at the at the last minute, setting a vote for 9 a.m. Monday.

But the Indiana AFL-CIO is organizing a weeklong protest. Indiana AFL-CIO President Nancy Guyott says:

It?s time to fight back and make our voices heard. We will not allow big business and out of state special interests to legislate away our rights or our way of life.

She says Indiana residents can call their state representative at 1-800-382-9842 and tell them to vote “NO” on House Bill 1468 or click here to send them an e-mail.

The right to work bill is just one of a number of anti-workers bills before the legislature. and Guyott says they are organizing a week of actions.

On Monday go to the Indiana Statehouse on Monday to stand up and oppose this bill.We need working Hoosiers to come to the Statehouse all day, every day next week.
