Ahahahaha!!!

Short Sarah Palin:"Doggonit, I didn't want to have to answer real interview questions on stuff I don't know! Like silly questions about what policy I support, or stuff that political leaders are supposed to know! I mean, I wanted to attack Barack Obama to deflect from the fact that I don't know anything! Katie Couric's mean! No fair!"

Drinking games

Posted on October 03, 2008
Tonight we DVR'd the debate and just finished watching it. I went to trivia at a local watering hole tonight, where it ended up being only me and a classmate, because everyone else bailed. We finished respectively, considering, however, for some reason I *never* seem to get the president questions right...

Ew

Posted on October 03, 2008
Seriously? Gross:Palin too projects through the screen like crazy. I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile...

Sarah Palin -- protector of our privacy rights

Posted on October 02, 2008
I guess someone forgot to tell SP that she isn't supposed to believe there's an inherent right to privacy in the Constitution. Whoops. Looks like she's not making Uncle Nino's Christmas card list.

In anticipation of the debate

Posted on October 02, 2008
Here is an article from Salon, that I really feel perfectly articulates the Sarah Palin issue. I am a strong democrat, but at the same time, I'm also one of those geeky people that loves a good throw-down election. Not in the dirty politics, skirt the issues and sling mud sort of way, but in an honest debate of the issues, the problems and may the best candidate win...

Women and health

Posted on September 30, 2008
Here is a link to an excellent report from Planned Parenthood analyzing why McCain's health care plan would be disasterous for women (men too, but especially for women). Even if you aren't pro-choice, and might not like Planned Parenthood, you can't deny that McCain's "overhaul" of the insurance system would simply leave women stranded in many aspects of their health, not just in reproductive services...

Baby talk

Posted on September 28, 2008
I've been neglecting the "mom in law school" portion of the blog, in favor of the much more interesting topic of politics, especially regarding foreign policy, which is my big interest. But as LL points out, you don't really feel motivated to write when things are just going well and there's nothing notable to point out...

So true

Posted on September 28, 2008
A friend of mine used this clip to express his feelings after the various Sarah Palin interview clips. I'm fairly certain the upcoming VP debates will warrant playing this clip again:

On ice

Posted on September 27, 2008
I'm not sure exercise is for me. I don't consider myself to be a particularly clumsy person, but I seem to be having a great deal of difficulty regaining my footing should I stumble, and manage to completely wipe out. I remember in high school, a friend of mine wanted to go ice skating...

Analysis

Posted on September 26, 2008
Now that I'm over my initial irritation over the ridiculous entitlement-riddled excuse Palin gives for why she never made it out of the country until this year, on to actual substance. Here's a portion of the interview:Couric: You met yesterday with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who is for direct diplomacy with both Iran and Syria...

Foreign policy?

Posted on September 26, 2008
I'm highly disappointed that half of the debate was on the economy, not on foreign policy, greatly cutting the depth and substance of the foreign policy debate. I guess the economy's important too, whatever. Still disappointed. Bah.Anyway, I think both candidates did well...

Irritation

Posted on September 25, 2008
Quote from Palin's interview that aired this evening, which completely pissed me off:[Explaining why she just recently obtained a passport:] "I'm not one of those who came from a background of, you know, kids who perhaps graduate college and their parents give them a passport and give them a backpack and say go off and travel the world...

Some actual substance

Posted on September 24, 2008
In preparation of the first presidential debate on Friday, I encourage everyone to read this and learn something about the geopolitical landscape and what challenges face the next US President. Stratfor is a nonpartisan publisher of geopolitical intelligence...

Day of FAIL

Posted on September 24, 2008
We have definite FAIL going on today. I'm seriously considering skipping class, it's been that good of a day.We wake up this morning, like any other morning, to the sound of Cora crying for a bottle. She generally wakes up about 7:30, plays in her crib, then when she starts getting hungry, cries for us to get her a bottle (usually about 8)...

Part 2

Posted on September 24, 2008
For an analysis of Obama's foreign policy stance, read here. I assume McCain's will be tomorrow's edition.

Politicking -- health care

Posted on September 23, 2008
I don't have the energy or the coherency at this point in the evening (or morning, I suppose) to actually do much extensive political analysis, so I'm just going to link to this NYT op-ed, as well as commentary on the topic from Dave, cancer survivor and musician...

Bailouts

Posted on September 23, 2008
I'm struggling this semester in BA. The actual "business" part I get, and I know a minimal amount about global economics, but our class keeps going back to accounting and finance, which are two concepts that elude me completely. I'm trying to improve myself, though, and not be a complete moron when it comes to all that financial stuff...

Swift Boats, Part Deux

Posted on September 16, 2008
The "friends" of the GOP strike again. Why actually debate the issues, when you can just participate in a willful campaign of misinformation? (And by that I mean outright lying.) Jerome Corsi, writing "Obama Nation" has once again sacrificed any sort of academic integrity he might have once had on the altar of political smear...

Eggs

Posted on September 15, 2008
I decided not to try out for our school's trial team. The deadline was Friday, and I let it pass. I ultimately decided this for a few reasons. First, I'm doing way too much already, and I'm already getting my ass kicked in BA. I might only have two finals this semester, but I may fail one of them, ugh...

Experience not necessary, knowledge is a must

Posted on September 12, 2008
After watching the Charles Gibson interview with Sarah Palin, I have a terrible headache. We've had eight years of an administration led by a man who scorns knowledge. Bush launched an illegitimate war based on fabricated intelligence with a country he didn't even bother to familiarize himself with first...

Blog? What blog?

Posted on September 09, 2008
I know, I'm the world's shittiest blogger. Here I'm supposed to be blogging about my experiences as (now a mom) and being a law student, and all you get here are crickets and tumbleweeds. Anyway, I promise I will post more in the future. Getting back into the groove of school and also working the maximum number of hours allowed by the honor code has been tough, especially since Business Associations is already kicking my ass, and we're only on the third week...

New law baby

Congrats to Cee. That is all.

First week of 3L

Posted on August 28, 2008
Cora started daycare last week. She's going Wednesday through Friday, while my mom is still watching her on Mondays and Tuesdays. She seems to be having a lot of fun in daycare. With the exception of today (she's been a total pill since she woke up this morning), she's been in a really good mood when I get there to pick her up...

Last stretch

Posted on August 18, 2008
This is my last week of freedom. I can't believe classes start next Tuesday. I have to go buy a textbook tomorrow, since the title was never released in time for me to order it off the web. I'm going to pick up Husband's books too while I'm there, so it'll probably be an expensive trip...

Workin'

Posted on August 13, 2008
I've actually worked hard this week, hurrah! I'm about to finish a depo summary, then go home to relieve Husband of baby duty. Cora has a cold, so she's a ball of fun. Snotty, sneezy and in general, pissed off. Her poor little nose is all chapped from all the snot...

Exercise is hazardous to your health

Posted on August 04, 2008
Only I could possibly manage to injure myself on gym equipment in a most craptacular way.I've been training for a half-marathon in October, so I've been spending a lot of time at the gym doing aerobics. In order to keep myself on the machines, I invested in a portable DVD player, which has been successful in keeping me on the machine for 42 minutes at a time (the length of a television episode)...

The Future

Posted on July 29, 2008
So, I've been absent from blogging for awhile... I've been going through a bit of a funk. Discouraged about my career options, and dissatisfied with a lack of work at the office (and the work I do get is lame), I've been a little down in the dumps, and anything I would post on here would be one big pity party...

Resume question

Posted on July 25, 2008
OCI is starting super early this year. Which means I need to work harder at shedding some pounds since my suits still don't fit right. Sucks. I bought a couple "professional" dresses that coupled with a jacket will be fine for interviews, but I much prefer my "power suits...

I Want to Believe

Posted on July 24, 2008
And so does Cora...The moment I've been waiting for all summer... hell, for six years... midnight movie tonight. I'm unbelievably excited. I know I'm a total dork, but I grew up watching The X-Files, all nine years of it, and still totally excited about the second movie...

Yuck

Posted on July 13, 2008
I am a mess. There's nothing "hot" about it either. Phase 1: I start out with allergies. Probably caused by cleaning the house. I'm allergic to dust, but it doesn't bother me if it's just laying there two inches thick on my bookshelves. It's when I clean it off that it stirs it up and gets to me...
