Mothers and Money Never Mix

Posted on July 25, 2009
My mother has been in rare form lately. A week or so I called her to mention that I was feeling ill and that my son was acting out. Her response? “Well, you got divorced, you moved your child away from his grandparents and you wonder why? You’re just reaping what [...

Men Suck

Posted on July 25, 2009
So I’m frustrated today. Ex-boyfriend has not paid back any of the money he owes me and, with the way my parents talk, you’d think they are going into the poorhouse any day now because they helped me pay the closing costs on my house sale...

Boundary Issues

Posted on July 25, 2009
Last week my cousin passed away after a brave battle with uterine cancer. She was my mother’s cousin and they were very close so, even though I had taken time off for medical procedures and even though my mother and I were having a tiff, I had to go...

Not Myself

Posted on July 17, 2009
Several of my readers have commented that I don’t seem quite like myself lately. I’m not really sure what that means or how to take that so I’m going to take it as a compliment. This time last year life suuucckked. I spent a lot of time in therapy, in church and [...

Overwhelmed

Posted on July 15, 2009
Life’s gotten a little overwhelming lately and I’ve turned into Cranky Miss SnarkyPants. Probably doesn’t help that my monthly friend finally showed up a full TWO WEEKS late. Grrr. Chapin has given up his apartment and taken a traveling job where he may be home once every two weeks...

Quickie

Posted on July 14, 2009
Nooo, not that kind (damn it). Just a quick update. Upper GI couldn’t get far enough down to where the pain and problem is. Doc sent me home with a bunch of pills (acid reducers, probiotics, etc.) and an order for a small bowel follow-through...

More Bleech

Posted on July 10, 2009
So I went to the Gastroenterologist today. This is the same lady who saw me pretty much every day for the two weeks I was in the hospital last summer (and the same one who gave me the unanesthatized colonoscopy – grrr!) She took one look at my labs and my belly and [...

No Dead Rabbits Here

Posted on July 09, 2009
On Tuesday afternoon my OB called and said that I’m not pregnant. But what about all the nausea/abdominal pain/dizziness, etc? Called internal medicine and they said, “Duh, girl, you need to go to urgent care and get that checked out. Sounds like last year when you had the intessuception...

Roundup

Posted on July 06, 2009
I will have it up tonight, promise. Sorry all. Fell asleep working on it last night. Woke up at 3 and couldn’t sleep, but when I started working on it at 5:30, I fell asleep again. Argh. Now late for work!! I am so on it tonight. [...]

Still sick

Posted on July 05, 2009
I am still so sick. Whole body hurts, all day feeling of nausea combined with hunger, ability to eat way more than normal (because of the gastric bypass, I usually can’t eat much – only changed when I was pregnant with Pumpkinhead), wicked sore breasts, peeing constantly (and constantly thirsty), aversion to alcohol, heightened [...

Moved

Posted on July 05, 2009
Commenter Jill says my blog posts didn’t make my current living situation clear. So here’s the update: Crazy Roomie went nuts right over Memorial Day weekend when I was dealing with my Aunt’s death. Did lots of insane things like threaten litigation and call me DURING THE FUNERAL to scream at me...

Ugh, sick

Posted on July 02, 2009
I hate it when my mother is right. She said, “You are going to do too much in the move and end up having another one of your pain attacks.” Harumph. Here I am in pain. But this one is different… It started about two weeks ago when we went out for [...

What I?m Not Posting

Posted on June 29, 2009
So I come here all the time intending to blog about many things. But for one reason or another — usually lack of time or inability to string coherent sentences together — the posts never come together. I haven’t mentioned that Chapin lost his job...

Making the Effort

Posted on June 23, 2009
In this month’s edition of The Atlantic, Sandra Tsing Loh writes about ending her twenty-year marriage and how she feels like marriage is an outdated institution not worth the work that so many years of it require. “Given my staggering working mother?s to-do list, I cannot take on yet another arduous home- and self-improvement project, that [...

8 Years?

Posted on June 22, 2009
It has been eight years today since I had my Open Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery. I lost 97lbs. I gained numerous health issues, including severe malnutrition, peripheral neuropathy and hypotension. Would I do it again? No. Would I have weight loss surgery again? Yes, probably...

Apartment and Life Update

Posted on June 17, 2009
Sorry I have been so absent lately. Illness, moving, inability to blog from work (duh) and closing on a house sale all lend themselves to a perfect storm of non-blogging. Work has been kicking my butt the past few weeks with competing tasks all due RIGHT NOW...

Love

Posted on June 12, 2009
Apparently Rachel inspired me. Yeah, I said it. Sigh… Was sitting on the couch the other night staring at him and he looked over and said lovingly, “What’s up? Why are you looking at me?” Couldn’t help myself (and had some beer courage)...

Pics

Posted on June 05, 2009
I’m in bed with a frog, a cat and a kid. Wish I was in bed with another animal but he’s at his house securing his gay roommate to be my bitch this weekend as I move/clean/paint (his words, not mine). Oh well, I’m also in bed with a laptop [...

Passive-Aggressive Hell

Posted on June 02, 2009
I am living in it. Grrr. My mother is driving me crazy. She is refusing to help me bathe Pumpkinhead one minute so I can work on the mountains of stuff I brought home from work and begging for hugs the next. She has apparently also decided that EVERYTHING in her [...
