Nice break...
Posted on April 30, 2008I randomly turned on the tv tonight to take a break. It's been off for four days. I came across Boston Legal and it was awesome. (Plus, they sued the FDA so it was somewhat like studying for Genetics.) And then in the last few seconds the James Spader character described almost perfectly why I'm still single.
A good sign...
Posted on April 29, 2008My first final is tomorrow. I have reached the point where I am sick of looking at the material. I'm taking this as a good sign insofar as if I didn't understand it, I'd be grossly freaking out and worrying of failure. Instead I'm tabbing and doing light review...
Maturity...
Posted on April 29, 2008Just a few years ago, when someone upset me, I would send nasty notes or emails in hopes of getting a rise, response, or other reaction that would result in an interaction, discussion, or solution of a problem. Over the past few weeks, an acquaintance seemed to be exhibiting a growing hostility towards me, and last night, handed me the last straw...
The End is Near...
Posted on April 28, 2008These were my classes this semester: Estate Planning ? Spent the most time on this one ? probably going to get the lowest grade. It?s the type of subject I?d kick butt at in practice, but don?t understand so well in a classroom setting. All the details of gift tax, estate tax, income tax, and the various credits just make my head go mushy...
That's great that love is in the air...now get out of my parking space...
Posted on April 28, 2008I may have mentioned before that there?s a parking shortage at my school. Arrive at the wrong time, and you could end up circling like a vulture. Today I arrived in the middle of a class period, ie no one was leaving. Approximately ten other cars were involved in the race to find a space, hovering in wait...
Your Westlaw session will be temporarily
Posted on April 24, 2008Your Westlaw session will be temporarily interrupted at 11:44 PM, CST. Please be prepared to sign off at that time. If you wish to continue your research session, sign off Westlaw and then reconnect. Westlaw is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...
snooping...
Posted on April 23, 2008There?s a table in the faculty offices and I sit there to study several days a week. Two other guys from my classes sit there as well, and when I arrived today at noon, they?d already left for lunch, but left their books sitting on the table. And one of them left their briefcase...
Bad Mommy...
Posted on April 20, 2008I missed Martha's birthday. One year ago last Friday, I brought her home from the kennel after she'd sat there for two months without a visitor. (By the way, this totally validates my life-long belief that people are fundamentally stupid. She's freakin' adorable, and with a little bit of training and patience, she's become an awesome dog...
The Why Do People Hate You Test...
Posted on April 20, 2008So my problem is that I'm a nice person who's a teensy bit anal? 6 Cruelty, 32 Anal, 19 Pushover Congratulations. You're easy-going, friendly and know when to stand up for yourself. You're perfect. In fact, you're a little bit too perfect...
I hate papers...
Posted on April 20, 2008Paper #2 is due tomorrow. Then I have a research thing-a-ma-jiggy due on Thursday. Then I have four finals. Just in case you wondered why I wasn't posting. BUT I wish I could post. I have fun stuff to talk about. You know, things I probably shouldn't talk about, assumptions I shouldn't make, tiny pieces of fact destroyed by an all too active imagination...
Cuteness...
Posted on April 18, 2008So, as of late, I've been working on my 'physical attractiveness.' First came the gay men, and as of the past week, I can now add women and married men to the list of outward comments. And in a rare glimmer of hope, today a seemingly single man struck up a conversation with me about my sunglasses...
Zee tote has arrived!
Posted on April 15, 2008So, here's the new tote... It's kind of ginormous, but I picked it out on purpose. The thing holds laptops, books, flip-flops, and a change of clothes. You can use either handles or the shoulder strap. There are inside pockets on both sides, but the main compartment is open - another feature I wanted in order to be able to shove as much stuff as possible in its spaces...
I feel pretty?
Posted on April 15, 2008In the last couple of weeks two different men have approached me in a bar. One told me I was beautiful. The other one used the term cute. I wasn?t being hit on, they just stopped me as I walking past them with an, ?I had to tell you?? It?s kind of nice...
Coincidences & Reminiscences...of Purses
Posted on April 14, 2008I climbed in bed last night at 11:51 pm. At 12:45 am, still awake, I was struck with an idea and jumped out of bed. For some reason, I decided that I MUST purchase a business tote for my laptop and papers. What was odd about this besides the timing? I have not in recent months (ok, years) even thought about buying a business tote...
That's why we call him fairy-god-brother...
Posted on April 10, 2008Midnight approaches. I'm sitting at my desk, drinking red wine, and watching S&TC, season four. The phone rings. "Are you calling to rescue me?" I ask. "Get your party shoes on and come meet me before you turn into a pumpkin."

When you know you're old...
Posted on April 08, 2008I almost never use my credit card except for major purchases, so when I logged onto to my bank account tonight I nearly screamed when I saw that the balance on my credit card was $2700. What did I buy? $2400 for BarBri $50 for Frontline flea stuff for dog $100 for Graduation gown rental $10 doggie poo bags $50 threadless tees Dear god, I am boring...
Amazing...
Posted on April 06, 2008For the last few weeks I've spent a couple of hours every other day working on a paper. Lots of pain, little writing. I'd read and research and read and research again, but still I didn't have any idea how I was going to put the paper together. It's amazing what a 48-hour deadline can do...
This is a holiday?
Posted on April 06, 2008Last week was the first week that Wine-Time-Girl and I were not working at our part-time jobs. We?d taken off a little early for finals and papers and projects and breathing room. On our first Friday of freedom, she agreed to keep me company while Martha and I jetted around town, killing a three-hour span where I could not enter my house because of the bug man and his toxin-carrying spray...

If I'd known...
Posted on April 02, 2008...that they handed out free books at Jewish Women networking events I would have started attending them a long time ago. Free Book! And it wasn't even some career/self-help junk. It was a Joan Didion short story collection. How awesome is that? I love being Jewish...
Things that would have been nice...
Posted on April 02, 2008...some type of reminder from the administration that the deadline to order cap and gown was fast approaching...especially since said deadline occurred during Spring Break. Awesome.
It is seriously amazing...
Posted on April 02, 2008...how many people in the library pick their nose and are completely unaware that they're doing it. I just saw two different guys do it within a span of ten seconds.
Something's wrong with my brain...
Posted on April 02, 2008Help me figure this out - it's driving me crazy! Did you see the article in the NYT yesterday about ?change blindness?? ?When Jeremy Wolfe of Harvard Medical School, speaking last week at a symposium devoted to the crossover theme of Art and Neuroscience, wanted to illustrate how the brain sees the world and how often it fumbles the job, he naturally turned to a great work of art...
If you could answer just one question of the future...
Posted on March 31, 2008The other night Wine-Time-Girl and I were out for drinks, and in the middle of it all, we decided to go visit a psychic. I know a lot of people think psychics are nuts, but you have to view it as entertainment. Instead of wondering it they?re actually accurate, pretend you?re spending the money on a movie or dinner or hell, a theme park...
Literary Incompatibility...
Posted on March 31, 2008Today the New York Times has an article about avid readers and their propensity to ?dump? potential love interests based on the books they read. Seriously. ?'I did have to break up with one guy because he was very keen on Ayn Rand,? said Laura Miller, a book critic for Salon...
Things I will never understand...
Posted on March 31, 2008...The people at my school who either don't have a part-time job or do have a job, but the dress is casual and still wear suits to school every day. I mean, does it just get them into the legal "zone" or something? Personally, I have difficulty getting anything done in a suit...

Posted on March 27, 2008Stolen from Mademoiselle (x) smoked a cigarette (tpo many she thinks as she hacks.) (x) crashed a car (x) got drunk with a good friend (x) stolen a car (actually, just broken into one. I didn't steal anything though. I left a note or something. I was in high school, and it was the guy I was "dating...
Free Book? Yes, please!
Posted on March 26, 2008People are always sending me strange unsolicited emails asking for promotion on this site. Stuff like: Dear Ana, How would you like to write up a piece on our company? 3L's don't forget...
Posted on March 23, 2008...to take part in the glorious sucker-punch of paying the full balance on your BarBri bill. I got an email a few weeks ago telling me I'd be hit with a $75 late fee unless I paid a zillion dollars by April 1...you know like two whole months before the class starts...
