Lubbock reporter honored for Cole case coverage

Kudos to Lubbock Avalanche Journal reporter Elliott Blackburn on winning a statewide journalism prize for his three-part series titled "Hope Deferred" about DNA posthumously exonerating Timothy Cole, a Texas Tech student falsely convicted of rape who died in prison in 1999. (The reporter is not related to Jeff Blackburn, the Innocence Project of Texas attorney who represented Cole's family in his recent, posthumous exoneration.)
