The hearing is continuing today in State District Judge Charlie Baird's court.  Here's the coverage of yesterday's proceedings."Witness points to police slip-ups," is Steven Kreytak's report in the Austin American-Statesman.Cole died in prison in 1999, but last year DNA tests implicated another man. State District Judge Charlie Baird is holding a hearing on his case after a Lubbock court last year declined a request to formally clear Cole's name. His packed courtroom Thursday included about two dozen members of Cole's family and Michele Mallin, whose identification of Cole in photo and live lineups and in court put him behind bars. The Innocence Project of Texas, which represents Mallin and Cole's family, said that if Baird finds Cole innocent, it would be the first posthumous DNA exoneration in Texas...continue to full post
