"Whoever denies authority and fights against it is an anarchist," said Sébastien Faure.Well, regarding judicial elections in Florida, there is no higher authority than the Florida Constitution.  The Constitution, of course, provides for fair and open elections of county and circuit court judges.  The people ultimately decide who judges them, not a governor.Yet, for at least the last thirty years, those in positions of power over the justice system of Broward County have actively pursued a course of action that discouraged and stifled contested judicial, state attorney, and public defender elections.  Whether by tacit threat of professional or financial ruin, or by more subtle social means, Broward attorneys were conditioned to believe that if they chose to exercise a constitutional right, they did so at their own peril...continue to full post
