Texas carried out its 12th execution of 2009 tonight in Huntsville.  It was the state's 435th execution since 1982.  Texas has far and away the most active death chamber in American, accounting for more than 37% of the nation's executions.  The San Antonio Express-News has this report on the execution of Louis Salazar.To date, there have been 20 executions in the nation this year; 1,156 since 1977.According to TDCJ, four more Texas executions are scheduled this year; more are likely to be added by state district courts.  Capital Defense Weekly notes execution dates in other states.
