: BoardBuzz: NSBA's Daily WeblogA very hungry reader
BoardBuzz loves this time of year. Back to school is always such an exciting time with lots going on. And one of our favorite programs is Read for the Record, which is in its fourth year, is gearing up for an even bigger challenge this year.
Each year, Read for the Record aims to set a world record for the most number of children being read to. According to their website,
In 2008, we broke our own world record as nearly 700,000 readers shared the classic children?s tale, Corduroy. On one historic day, one amazing book was read aloud in classrooms, libraries and homes from Japan, Germany and Brazil to cities and rural communities across America. Hushed with wonder and tickled with giggles, children around the world simultaneously experienced the joy of reading.
This year is no different. The book selection is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The date, October 8. Be there . . . and be a part of history.
