Cops File False Police Report. Film at 11.

By Ed Brayton

ADVERTISEMENTS

Yet another example of cops lying to cover up a false arrest, this time costing the city of Chicago a bundle of money.

The city of Chicago will pay $288,000 in a settlement involving a 2004 police raid at a Southwest Side bar.

In that raid, officers with the now disbanded, special operations section swarmed Caballo's Bar on West 63rd Street, questioning nearly everyone inside.

Two people were arrested on drug charges but those charges were later dropped.

Three officers were stripped of their badges after bar surveillance video showed inconsistencies with the police report the officers filed following the raid.

So why aren't those officers under arrest and facing charges? If you or I filled out a false police report, that's a crime. It should be a felony for police officers with at least double the penalties for when a non-officer does it.
