: Dispatches from the Culture WarsMarch Madness, Baby
By Ed Brayton
I've had a couple people email me to ask where the college basketball posts are. So here ya go. March Madness is upon us and the brackets are out. Let's go region by region. My MSU Spartans are the #2 seed in the Midwest region, where Louisville is the top seed. For some reason, a lot of people on TV were talking over the last week about how MSU was playing for a #1 seed. That was nonsense, they were a #2 no matter what happened.
I think the Midwest bracket sets up very well for both Louisville and MSU to meet up in the elite 8. There's no team on MSU's side of the bracket that concerns me. The #3 team is Kansas, who lost to MSU earlier this season. The only team that scares me at all is West Virginia, which is capable of getting hot from the outside. Other than that, I think MSU's only real opponent for the first three rounds is themselves.
