Hillary's Rapid Responders

By Ryan Singel, Kevin Poulsen, Sarah Lai Stirland, Kim Zetter, and David Kravets

It's crunch time for the Democrats, and supporters of both senators Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois are out in force on the campaign trail. They're making phone calls, knocking on doors, and speaking up for their respective candidates. Hillary_rapid_responders_cropped

That's also true on the web, where a new site from Clinton supporters once again tries to defend the former first lady and senator from New York from the negativity meme that's dogging her campaign. It's called Hillary Rapid Responders.

The site's creators are another a group of people who feel that Clinton has received unfair treatment both in the media "and across the Internet."

"This has not been a fair fight when it comes to how our candidate's words and actions are misrepresented and misconstrued to voters," write the creators of the site on its front page. "The other candidate has been given a 'pass' and handled with 'kid gloves' while our candidate is consistently damned if she does and damned if she doesn't."

Some of the rapid responders listed on the site are Al Greene and Deborah Moran of Houston, Texas, Mary Pesina of Grand Prairie, Texas, Angela Pollock of Loganville, Georgia, and Richard Espinosa of Dallas, Texas.

According to domain name registration records, the site was registered only a couple of weeks ago. It features a lot of content ported from the Clinton campaign, letters to the editor from the rapid responders,  messaging points, YouTube video clips and  links to anti-Obama and John McCain articles and videos.

It's an interesting effort, but given some of the vitriol flying around against Clinton in pro-Obama e-mail listservs, one wonders whether it'll be effective so late in the game.
