Zeppelin NT over Paris

By Karl-Friedrich Lenz

ADVERTISEMENTS

The company producing and operating the Zeppelin NT airships has a press release out about radiation measurements.

That press release is in German language. To summarize: As it happens, one of their airships just came back from a mission to map basic radiation data over Paris. That mission was planned and executed before the nuclear accident at Fukushima. However, it clearly shows that an airship is an excellent platform for monitoring airborne radiation levels.

I have been repeating a lot lately that they should get some balloons and airships up at Fukushima, to monitor the situation and to raise morals. Looking at this press release, for the very least one of those Zeppelins should be floating over Tokyo as soon as possible to help monitoring radiation levels. Knowing the airborne radiation obviously is important for predictions of all sorts.

I am writing right now to Zeppelin NT to ask if they have been contacted already.
