For a week we were warm, and instead of sitting on the couch with our laptops open, JW and I wandered around at night and ordered tropical drinks at open-air bars.br /br /K asked to go home every day, and after a couple of days also started requesting to go to daycare. (He was very happy to come home, but upset that the extended family didn't come with us.)br /br /And now we're back to the snow, back to real life. Minus law school, but that part won't really hit me until after the holidays.br /br /Two K developments from vacation: he developed a whiny new "No, no, NO!" that reminds me he'll be two soon; and he started talking up a storm. No more "cah" and "buh" for him. He's saying entire words, complete sentences, nouns, adjectives, and verbs, titles of books, song lyrics. I'm still not used to it. This morning I held him up to touch a tree branch, but he couldn't reach it. "Too high!" he said. And yesterday when I told him we were coming home soon, he said, "Back safe, home again," which is what the Pig family says upon returning home from the beach in "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go." For a while he's been pointing to things and labeling them, or repeating what we say. But discernible independent thought from him still surprises me every time.
