A Little Muggy

By "Daisy Duke"

ADVERTISEMENTS
First, let me remind you that tonight is the "due date" for the Soon I Will Be Invincible reviews. I haven't gotten any yet....and it was a fun book....so send them in!!! I'll accept reviews through tomorrow morning, 10 am, EST.

A few weeks ago I alluded to my mugs, that I collect. You needn't be worried, I really don't have all that many mugs, because as I realized, my collection is slightly pathetic. These are my non-Starbucks mugs that I have floating around that I really enjoy. Cafe Du Monde, The King & Prince Resort, & St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. These mugs are fun. They have memories. And they don't hold nearly enough coffee.
My first Starbucks City Mug was one of the old ones, with the letters going around the entire mg. You can see the Hancock tower on the right hand side! I love the Hancock. I do not love the Hancock's exorbitant prices for cocktails however.  You can also see a sailboat. BISMOW sails. Sometimes he takes me. And sometimes it makes me throw up. Lovely story, eh?
And then, to go along with the theme of "first" here is a mug from the first Starbucks, at Pike Place in Seattle. I adore the Pike Place market. Adore. And, incidentally, did you know I was born in Washington? True story. I missed being a North Carolina girl by just a few months. The injustice still gets me down sometimes.

And then we have the Chicago mug after Starbucks switched styles. You can see the Sears tower in this one. Did you know the Sears tower is actually a bundle of towers- I think 9? That is how it has the strength to be so tall & not blow over in the Windy City. Which, incidentally, is named the Windy City after "windy" politicians talking a lot, and not so much the wind. Although it is windy. So it works.

And then Starbucks did a few commemorative city mugs for the holiday season- only three total I think- but Chicago was one of the lucky city's that got one! It was of the Magnificent Mile a/k/a Michigan Avenue. I'm going to take Katie from Overflowing Brain to Michigan Avenue so I can steal her away from New Orleans. It does that to a girl. You can see Water Tower Place on the mug. Water Tower is the only part of "old" Chicago that didn't burn in the fire when Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicked over the lantern. One of the towers is now a theatre, built by David Schwimmer - also known as Ross from Friends. He studied theatre at Northwestern University. And now you can all dazzle your next set of dinner guests with that fun fact. And the crowning jewel on my collection- the newest addition- the most treasured mug to ever hold a cuppa joe- my New Orleans mug. Found & purchased by Mr. YatPundit himself & then sent to me by NOLA Notes, it was a wonderful post-bar exam result treat. This blog has done a lot of things for me- namely a wonderful outlet to let my thoughts pour out- but it has also introduced me to the zany, wild & eclectic group of readers who stop by. And I love each & everyone one of you (and your blogs & comments aren't half bad either!!). Oh! And my holiday decor! This is my Halloween "stuff"- my two little pumpkins & my ghost candle. Really adds a bit of fun to the coffee table. Or, according to BISMOW, takes away a perfect spot to rest his feet. Whatever. What. Ever.

I'll leave y'all be now.
