Weird Statue of the Day

Not weird statute. That's a never-ending meme.

But what is this statue depicting? This is football?! What is the kneeling dude doing with the rag cloth?

Despite growing up with three brothers, I just don't get sports. I get art, but I can't get this. You'd think that the marriage of the two would make the one more accessible.
