: The GavelCitizens United Ruling Soon?
By Peter Hardin
The Supreme Court has announced a rare Thursday session for Jan. 21, and the expected issuance of one or more opinions. This action has led court-watchers to speculate that the high court may finally hand down a decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, an important campaign finance regulation case.
Here is how The Blog of Legal Times put it: “The session will almost certainly be the platform for announcing the Citizens United decision…which was argued in a special session Sept. 9 and appears to be the only pending case that would warrant such special arrangements.”
You may learn more about the case in earlier Gavel Grab posts. You also can check out a Justice at Stake amicus brief in the case and a JAS factsheet on it.
