DealFlow Media Advertising Sales Pitch..."This Way To Egress"

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

DealFlow Media is now making the rounds seeking your hard earned capital for advertising space in its "Structured Settlements Report". If its first issue is anything to go by, DealFlow media has not done an accurate assessment of the structured settlement industry and the investment of any intellectual or financial capital by those involved in creating structured settlements should be avoided. Here's a copy of the body of an email sent by DealFlow Media Director of Sales, Jim Patrick to an unsuspecting structured settlement general agent earlier today.

DFM email First Paragraph

"Dear XXXX,

You should have recently received our initial Structured Settlements Report and I certainly hope you found it good reading and an asset to your business. In addition to the Report, our Structured Settlements Website has just come online and the weekly Structured Settlements Wire has already been distributed to more than 5,000 professionals in the Structured Settlements industry:  http://structuredsettlements.dealflowmedia.com/

Comment: I've previously reviewed the poor quality of the initial report. Now  add to it the fuzzy math. 600 members of NSSTA, including life insurers and trust companies, 25 or so producer members of the SSP. Let's round that up to 700 total. Where are the other 4,300 coming from?  I have an idea but potential advertisers for DealFlow Media Structured Settlements Report should get DealFow Media to clarify this glaring misrepresentation.

            DFM email Second Paragraph

If you would like to get on the radar screen of annuity brokers, factoring companies, attorneys active in tort claims, financial advisors to special needs clients or estate planners looking for the latest options for structuring legal settlements, or if you want to attract investors seeking alternative assets with high returns, then perhaps you should consider becoming one of the first to advertise in our weekly newswire and on our website.

Comment: Frankly I am on the radar screen on this blog for $49 annually and my own intellectual capital that has now spun out over 1020 posts. Then reading the paragraph, separating the wheat from the chaff,  you see buried in there, DealFlow Media's target audience! DealFlow Media assessment of the structured settlement industry is way off base. Those who create structured settlements are already on the radar screen of who they need to be (trial lawyers, insurers, self insurers, judges and tort victims). And for those that aren't there are far cheaper and more efficient ways to do it.

            DFM email Third Paragraph

Our Report and Newswire is distributed to C-Suite executives, partners and principals in their respective companies.  These are the movers and shakers in the industry and the clients and associates you covet most.

Comment:  It's all very trendy now to use acronyms and hip jargon like "C-suite", S2KM, S2PJ, P&J and BM,  in an attempt to give off the impression to potential advertisers that you know what you're doing, but how many tort victims do you suppose a "C-suiter" has worked with one on one?

DFM email Fourth Paragraph

So don?t hesitate?this is a unique opportunity for your company to network with other professionals in the Structured Settlements Industry and represents a special 2 for 1 advertising program that is being offered to charter subscribers and sponsors.  And, you should also be aware that there is only a limited amount of positions available and they will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

Comment: Classic used car salesman approach! We've all seen it... step right up "the train is leaving the station, gotta catch a plane, last seat on the plane (remember Ritchie Valens took the LAST seat on THAT plane). In my opinion, think strategically and don't waste your financial capital OR your intellectual capital supporting an apparent "Trojan Horse" Wolf_checking_out_sheepthat is trying to marry Wall Street greed with those that actively serve tort victims.  Do structured settlement brokers and settlement planners and insurers get that Wall Street wants your client lists? The likes of those that supply hundreds of millions cash to braggarts Peachtree Settlement Funding, and their 19% discount rates, want your annuitant client lists! WAKE THE $%^* UP!

Lastly, anyone in the structured settlement industry "who is short of networking opportunities" please contact me.
