One of our reliable structured settlement factoring information sources claims to have effective discount rates of 7.75% with only slightly higher for AIG paper. This author is not encouraging factoring. If have hit a devastating financial crunch however, AND you have exhausted all other alternatives to get you out of a bind you shouldn't be ripped off. There is no need to tolerate or pay discount rates deep into the teens today.
