Feeling Like An Unloved Lawyer? Get An Office Pet

By Lynne DeVenny

ADVERTISEMENTS
I have begged and begged and begged for an office cat, but "noooooooo" (so far).

But Tennessee attorney Rebecca Robinson is getting a kitten for her office.

"Nobody loves lawyers, so we have to find furry things to love," she said.

Robinson recently visited the Rutherford County Pet Adoption & Welfare Services (PAWS) in Murfreesboro, with her legal assistant Brianne Montgomery and paralegal Lynne Facciolli.

Facciolli said pets help clients relax.

"They release stress when people come in for divorces," Facciolli said.

Robinson has had office dogs before as well. She practices juvenile law and is a child welfare specialist, and counts on pets to help children relax.

"It makes it easier for children to talk," said Robinson, noting how a kitten can make a difference when trying to communicate with clients that are only 3 years old. "It's a way to let them be themselves playing with animals."

Okay, Boss. If we can't have a cat, can we have a dog?
