: Practical ParalegalismTop 25 Paralegal Blogs
By Lynne DeVenny
So yesterday I got a very nice email from Criminal Justice Degree Schools (http://www.criminaljusticedegreeschools.com/) stating that Practical Paralegalism has been included in its "Top 25 Paralegal Blogs" list.Naturally, I'm pretty darned excited, but not for the reason you think.
Because it's not like I'm one of twenty-five that beat out thousands, or even hundreds, of other paralegal blogs.
In fact, the reason I'm thrilled is that there are 25 paralegal blogs. First, there were a handful, then two handfuls - and then over 20, which is a really big deal in this unique niche. A statement Bill Statsky made in the last episode of The Paralegal Voice has stuck with me. He said, "The growing number of paralegal blogs is one of the most exciting things that has happened in the field." He said it's a "tremendous new development" that paralegals are using their own voices, independent of attorneys, and expressing themselves in the blawgosphere.
I was glad to see several blogs not already listed in Practical Paralegalism's paralegal blog roll (left side bar under "Check Out These Paralegal Blogs"), including National Association of Freelance Legal Professionals and Mom-alegal's Blog. I try to include blogs by legal support staffers that feature original content, are updated consistently, and aim to help paralegals in some way, whether it's dispensing professional advice, commenting on trending legal news stories, making us laugh, or simply sharing the day-to-day experience of working in the legal field. I love adding new blogs to the list, and really appreciate it when someone brings a new blog to my attention.
If you're not already doing so, I hope you'll read and encourage the growing number of paralegal bloggers - and add your own voice, by commenting at posts, offering to guest blog, or even working to develop new blogs for paralegals as an individual, with several colleagues, with your fellow students, or as a paralegal association.
Twenty-five paralegal blogs is exciting. Now, let's aim for fifty.
