Former Gov. Schweiker to Consult for Stradley Ronon?s Gov?t. Affairs Practice

As Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young Chairman William R. Sasso readies to help usher in Gov.-elect Tom Corbett Tuesday as part of the transition team, his law firm welcomes a former Pennsylvania governor to its ranks.
 
Mark S. Schweiker, current president of the business process solutions unit of PRWT Services, Inc., is joining the firm?s government and public affairs practice as a senior advisor. Schweiker will serve in a consultative capacity to the firm, allowing him to stay on at PRWT in his current role.
The firm said Schweiker, who is not a lawyer, would advise clients in the areas of business development and corporate growth initiatives.

?Mark?s prior public service and extensive knowledge of government processes in Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Delaware and New Jersey complement and build on our existing government affairs practice,? Sasso said in a statement. ?His years of forging relationships on several important levels ? business-to-business and business- to-government ? in the greater Philadelphia region and across the nation in many state capitals will serve as a great asset for our clients.?

Schweiker served as lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2001 and was appointed to the governor?s spot in 2001 when Tom Ridge stepped down. Schweiker served as governor until 2003. Before joining PRWT, he served as president and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Stradley Ronon?s government and public affairs practice is considered a practice group within the firm but is not run by its lawyers. Senior government and media relations consultant John R. Saler serves as the group?s chairman. Herb Vederman serves as the group?s other senior consultant.
A number of Stradley Ronon partners are also members of the practice group.
