WHAT'S REALLY OFFENSIVE, PART II

Posted on January 14, 2010
JAABLOG SOS - no offense to our space restricted friends at the Sun Sentinel, but we desperately need a Bob Norman or Dan Christensen to put this Brady mess into perspective for the voting public.  If you build it they will come.  Americans are all about fair play, just the same as they're extremely gullible and susceptible to political double speak at the other end of the spectrum...

These requests were prompted by a partial Brady disclosure followed by a disclosure of close-out memoranda received from the State Attorney's Offce...

How many good judges will Satz drag down? - that's the $6,640,000.00 question*.  Answer: Who cares!  As far as we're concerned, the question is moot.  Satz shouldn't be allowed to sneak off to Colorado or North Carolina like Dan Futch and other cronies have...

"Doing the Elbow" - we spent a few minutes at IC University this morning, killing time before the "All Rise" with our first stop's in-custody defendants.  Prison/Jail Slang 101 was the topic.  Here's what we learned (pop quiz tomorrow, so pay attention):If you're doing life, you got "the Elbow", which can also be signified by holding your bent arm out at ear level, chicken wing fashion...

2009 JAABLOG PERSON OF THE YEAR

Posted on January 03, 2010
Ooops - by now, everyone's seen The Daily Pulp's piece on Judge Hurley's wedding, which also took the good Judge to task for slamming cocky Defendant Brian Noval with a four month contempt of court sentence.  Well, it turns out we could have saved two of our favorite FOB's (friends of the Blog) a bit of embarrassment, if we hadn't been so lazy...

Read the first chapter of The Wrong ManJAABLOG HOLIDAY READ - pick up a copy of "The Wrong Man" if you have extra time on your hands.  It's a real page turner, all about the SAO's rancid prosecution of innocent man John Purvis.  Purvis, mentally handicapped, was browbeaten into confessing to the murder of Susan Hamwi and her infant daughter, on lovely Poinsettia Drive* in Fort Lauderdale...

No resignations pending - the Governor's press office told us today they are not in possession of any judicial resignations from the Seventeenth Circuit.  So, will there be a trial, a drawn out negotiation followed by a resignation, or will the JQC characteristically back off?  Whatever happens, it's definitely something to look forward to in 2010 ...

IS THE STATEWIDE GRAND JURY FOR REAL?

Posted on December 03, 2009
The Statewide Grand Jury - is it a joke?  That was the consensus today around the courthouse, although Broward lawyers are probably a lot more cynical about this kind of stuff than most.  Can you blame us?In any event, there are more questions than answers at this point...
